Urogynecology

The Center for Urogynecology & Pelvic Reconstructive Surgery is a division of Northwest OB-GYN.  Dr. Linda Partoll and Dr. Sarah Hammil are fellowship trained Urogynecologists specializing in the care of women with pelvic floor dysfunction.  The pelvic floor is the muscles, ligaments, connective tissue and nerves that help support and control the rectum, uterus, vagina and bladder.  The pelvic floor can be damaged by childbirth, repeated heavy lifting, chronic disease or surgery.

Problems and symptoms associated with pelvic floor dysfunction:

  • Incontinence: loss of bladder or bowel control, leakage of urine or feces
  • Prolapse: descent of pelvic organs, a bulge and/or pressure; dropped uterus, bladder, vagina or rectum
  • Emptying disorders: difficulty urinating or moving bowels
  • Pelvic (or bladder) Pain: discomfort, burning or other uncomfortable pelvic symptoms, including bladder or urethral pain
  • Overactive Bladder: frequent need to void, bladder pressure, urgency,  or difficulty holding back a full bladder

As specialists who concentrate completely on urogynecology ,Drs, Linda Partoll and Sarah Hammil can recommend a variety of therapies to cure or relieve symptoms of prolapse, urinary or fecal incontinence or other pelvic floor dysfunction symptoms.  If you have been experiencing any of these symptoms, please call and make an appointment to discuss possible treatment options.

In addition the diagnosis and procedural treatments for urogynecology, NWOBGYN also offers Biofeedback and Incontinence therapy under the direction of its physician Urogynecologists to optimize care and outcomes under the treatment plan.
