Obstetrics and Midwifery

The physicians and staff at Northwest OB-GYN are dedicated to providing expert personalized and comprehensive care for all types of pregnancies, including low risk and high risk complicated pregnancies.  With over 100 combined years of physician experience and over 30,000 deliveries, we at Northwest OB-GYN look forward to partnering with you during your pregnancy.

Family-Centered Obstetrical Care

Family-centered obstetrical care means that husbands/partners are encouraged to participate in prenatal visits, and are involved in intensive preparation for labor and delivery.  Their presence and active participation during the pregnancy, labor, delivery, and postpartum course is encouraged.  This provides you with an overwhelmingly satisfying obstetrical experience for the whole family.

While here at Northwest OB-GYN, you can expect to see your primary doctor or midwife and their staff members throughout your pregnancy.  The physicians and midwives deliver at Sacred Heart Medical Center Birth Place.  If you are expecting a child, let us partner with you on this wonderful journey into parenthood.

New Beginnings Class

Northwest OB-GYN is pleased to offer our New Beginnings Class for you and your partner.  The class will help you become an informed new parent and gain useful information prior to your first OB visit.

A new pregnancy can be overwhelming.  Medical recommendations can change over the years and sometimes over a few months.  In response to patient needs, we developed a “New Beginnings” class that we invite all newly pregnant patients to attend.  The class is offered in a group single evening class setting and is designed to help you and your partner prepare for your New OB appointment with your provider.  First trimester concerns are discussed as well as information on routine and optional screening tests.  This class is taught by specialists from our nursing staff and there is no additional cost for this class.

Some of the class topics include:

  • What to expect in the first 12 weeks of pregnancy
  • Prenatal care
  • Routine/Optional blood work
  • Diet and exercise
  • Routine/Optional screening tests
  • Pregnancy discomforts: normal and abnormal
  • Nutritional needs
  • Weight gain
  • Exercise
  • Sex during pregnancy
